IMX 2024 will be held in the Kista campus, at the Department of Computer and Systems Sciences of Stockholm University.
The NOD building, opened in 2014, is located in Kista Science City, a 20 minute subway ride from Stockholm Central Station.
About Stockholm
Stockholm is the capital and largest city of Sweden as well as the largest urban area in Scandinavia. Approximately 980,000 people live in the municipality, with 2,1 million in the urban area, and 2.4 million in the metropolitan area. The city stretches across fourteen islands where Lake Mälaren flows into the Baltic Sea.
Stockholm is one of the cleanest capitals in the world. The city was Europe’s first “green capital”. Applicant cities were evaluated in several ways: climate change, local transport, public green areas, air quality, noise, waste, water consumption, waste water treatment, sustainable utilisation of land, biodiversity and environmental management.
Stockholm’s land area is nearly 1/3 urban, 1/3 water, and 1/3 green space spread over 14 islands, with 57 bridges connecting the city. There is a sound that runs through central Stockholm, which holds the largest number of fish species in the region.
Stockholm University
Stockholm University was founded in 1878 as a radical alternative to the traditional educational establishment. Then as now, the university stands for openness and accessibility with an active role in society.
Stockholm College began without exams or diplomas, offering an alternative to the traditional universities in Uppsala and Lund. The first open lectures were held in 1877 in mathematics, physics, chemistry and geology, joined soon after by cultural history and economics. The tradition of open lectures continues today.
Stockholm University College gained the right to grant degrees in 1904. This change was strongly supported by the town council and meant that the city began funding the university college. The idea of an economically independent university college was left behind and the university college and city began working together more closely. In particular, the city wanted the university college to start granting law degrees in order to alleviate the lack of lawyers in Stockholm.
Stockholm University College was granted university status in 1960, today the university has more than 27,000 students, 1,400 doctoral students, and 5,700 members of staff active in the scientific areas of human science and science. It offers 300 programmes and 1,700 courses in science and human science, including 75 master’s programmes taught in English.
