The Steering Committee (SC) of the ACM International Conference on Interactive Media Experiences (IMX) is seeking expressions of interest from researchers and practitioners who would like to join the committee and help shape the future direction of the conference.
About IMX
ACM IMX is the leading international conference for the presentation and discussion of research into interactive media experiences. The conference brings together an interdisciplinary community spanning human-computer interaction, multimedia engineering and design, media studies, media psychology, and sociology. IMX is sponsored by ACM SIGCHI, in cooperation with SIGMM and SIGWEB, and has its roots in the EuroITV and ACM TVX conference series.
The Role of the Steering Committee
The IMX Steering Committee provides long-term strategic oversight for the conference. SC members contribute to activities including:
- Guiding the overall direction and vision of the conference
- Supporting and mentoring General Chairs and organising committees
- Reviewing and approving proposals to host future editions of IMX
- Maintaining conference policies, procedures, and quality standards
- Promoting the conference and growing the IMX community internationally
- Liaising with ACM and its Special Interest Groups
Who Should Apply?
We welcome expressions of interest from individuals who have an active connection to the IMX community and a commitment to its continued growth. We are particularly interested in candidates who bring:
- Experience of publishing at or contributing to the organisation of IMX (or its predecessor conferences, TVX and EuroITV)
- Expertise in one or more of the conference’s core research areas
- A willingness to contribute time and energy to committee activities, including regular meetings and ongoing tasks
- Perspectives that help broaden the diversity of the committee in terms of geography, discipline, career stage, or background
Prior experience as a General Chair, Programme Chair, or in another senior organising role at IMX or a related conference is valued but not essential.
What to Include in Your Expression of Interest
Please send a brief expression of interest (no more than one page) to imx-sc@imx.acm.org including:
- Your name, affiliation, and current role
- A short summary of your involvement with the IMX community (e.g. publications, organising roles, attendance)
- What you would bring to the Steering Committee and why you are interested in joining
- Any relevant experience in conference organisation, community building, or related service roles
Timeline
We take an ongoing approach to SC applications, so you can apply at any time, however we aim to announce and introduce new members of the SC at the IMX event each year.
