The call for host applications for IMX2024 and beyond is now open! As part of our strategy on growth and diversity, ACM IMX are especially interested in getting introduced to Latin America. This maybe done through many ways including collaborating with colleagues in Latin America, focusing on some topics particularly of interest to the Latin American community, curating tracks that focus on Latin America or of course hosting a conference in Latin America (with remote participation options). We are sure there are other ideas that we have not given consideration to so we look forward to hearing from you!
The steering committee would like to encourage potential bid organisers to include their thoughts on how to inject fresh thinking, diverse participation and new ideas into the IMX community.
Prior to recent events, ACM IMX was very interested in going to locations which offer a good chance of improving our potential attendees pool with the injection of new communities. However, now we feel that this could be done through diverse collaboration and the injection of tangential but still relevant topics. IMX 2021, for instance, worked with Latin American researchers on a curated workshop and add a theme about ‘interactive media‘ with a tag line – Beyond Entertainment. IMX 2022 had a general chair from Latin America who has now graciously joined our steering committee as well. IMX 2023 is still in progress but have a much bigger number of workshops which are all diverse in makeup and crosses the globe in terms of how collaborative they are! What could 2024 (and beyond) be about and who could you include in your bid? We strongly support, welcome and prioritise bids from hosts with organising committees that demonstrate a diverse, inclusive & inspirational perspective.
Application deadline: May 30, 2023
Host Notification: June 10, 2024
Proposals to host ACM IMX 2024 or beyond should be sent to the ACM IMX steering-committee at tvx@acm.org.
Conference Background
For the past seven years, ACM IMX has been held in these great cities around the world!
The ACM International Conference on Interactive Media Experiences (ACM IMX) is the leading international conference for presentation and discussion of research into online video and TV interaction and user experience. The conference brings together international researchers and practitioners from a wide range of disciplines, ranging from human-computer interaction, multimedia engineering and design to media studies, media psychology and sociology.
Looking to the Future
IMX this year will be based in Nantes, France!
We are now looking for candidates for hosting IMX 2024 or beyond. The conference dates should be similar to the other ACM IMX conferences (in June). Particularly strong submissions will include details on plans to engage local universities as well as the technology and/or media industry in the host region in addition to plans to continue helping ACM IMX improve diverse thinking.
More details on the conference series are available.
Submission Instructions
To be able to objectively decide upon a venue for IMX, we would like you to prepare a proposal following the bidding guidelines (pdf).
Bids will be evaluated according to the following criteria: location, venue, dates, a good start on the organising committee (and affiliations), diversity and budget. Due to recent global events, it would be a good idea to include plans for remote participation and thoughts on how to manage challenges that might arise due to any pandemic related issues which might impact registration/attendance.
Decision about future hosts are made by the ACM IMX steering committee so feel free to reach out early on to discuss any issues or ask questions.
