Diversity, Inclusion, and Student Grants

Diversity, Inclusion, and Student Grants

This year, as in years past, we have been working hard to provide as much travel support to as many conference attendees as possible. IMX 2026 will be carrying out a number of initiatives to support diversity and inclusion in addition to student participation.

SIGMM Student Travel Awards

To promote participation and diversity among students, ACM SIGMM and the ACM IMX 2026 organising committee will offer a number of travel grants for students. There are a limited number of grants available, so grants are being prioritised for PhD students.

SIGMM has centralised support for standard student travel for in-person participation. Any student member of SIGMM is eligible to apply (join SIGMM here), however, the students who are the first author of an accepted paper are particularly encouraged to apply.  The grants can cover any travel expenses, such as airfare/shuttle, hotel, and meals. Please note that the awards can not cover the cost of registration.

In addition to being a SIGMM member, the applicant must be enrolled in a university at the time of the application submission.

Selection Criteria

PhD students who are the primary authors of an accepted paper in the main conference or workshop will be given preference in the selection process.

Students who are not undertaking a PhD course of study, or students without papers accepted for publication at ACM IMX 2026 and related workshops, but involved in research closely related to the topics of ACM IMX and related workshops, can apply and also be considered.

Female and minority students’ applications are especially encouraged.

Application Procedure

Please submit an online application using this form. Applications will be reviewed after the deadline, and the applicants will be notified in due time.  The application system will open on the 20th of March, and it will remain open until 15th of April 2026 AoE.

Contact

For any queries, please contact SIG MM directly (contact information is at the bottom of the application form).
