LaTeX authors can download the template as a ZIP file or use the official Overleaf template.\u00a0 The ACM LaTeX template on the Overleaf platform is available to all ACM authors at\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.overleaf.com\/gallery\/tagged\/acm-official#.WOuOk2e1taQ\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">https:\/\/www.overleaf.com\/gallery\/tagged\/acm-official#.WOuOk2e1taQ<\/a>.<\/p><p>There is a single submission paper format for long and short\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/imx.acm.org\/2025\/authors\/call-for-papers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>technical papers<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0in the main paper track. We invite the submission of anonymized papers of between 7,000\u20138,000 words excluding references and figure\/table captions, with a 150 word abstract. Authors are encouraged to submit a paper of length proportional to its contribution. Submissions above 12,000 words (two standard deviations above the average) will be considered excessively long, given extra scrutiny in terms of contribution, and could be desk rejected. Shorter, more focused papers are also welcome and encouraged. Papers up to 4000 words (excluding references and figure\/table captions) will be designated as \u2018short papers\u2019 and will be reviewed on the basis of their relative contribution. Short papers should be submitted following the same templates and procedure as longer papers.<\/p><ul><li>Please ensure that you use the right templates available from the ACM; a single column format must be used for the reviewing phase.\u00a0<strong>Word authors should use the single column Word Submission Format<\/strong>. Author working in\u00a0<strong>LaTeX format, should use \\documentclass[manuscript,review,anonymous]{acmart}<\/strong>. Use of different templates or formats may result in a desk rejection.<\/li><li>Your submission must be anonymized. The new Word template is a single-column format. The ACM has made this change so that Word authors can concentrate on the content and not on the layout of their submissions. ACM will take care of transforming your document into a properly formatted two-column PDF file during the production process after acceptance. The production process also creates an accessible, responsive HTML file as part of the Digital Library output. ACM has instructed us that you will be able to review the PDF and HTML output and provide corrections (if necessary) before you mark the output as accepted for publication.<\/li><\/ul><p>As noted above, the new Microsoft Word template and production process uses a visually different format for submission to publication, while LaTeX authors will still submit their papers in the same format as their final publication. When calculating the word count for you submission, you should include all text within the document except for the following:<\/p><ul><li>The ACM copyright block (found only in the LaTeX template)<\/li><li>The contents of the section \u201cACM Reference Format\u201d (found only in the LaTeX template)<\/li><li>Text included in tables, figures and their captions<\/li><li>The reference list<\/li><li>Authors Info<\/li><\/ul><p>As tables and figures, and their captions, take up space in your paper they will count towards the word count according to their approximate size (including caption). Depending on the size of the figure or tables, you should add the number of words to your total word count stated in the\u00a0following tables.\u00a0<strong>Please include the number of words you have added to the word count per figure or table, by adding the number in [square brackets] the caption (initial submission only).<\/strong><\/p><p>Each page in the New SIGCHI Extended Abstracts template can hold around 500 words. Based on this assumption, we have calculated \u2018word counts\u2019 for figures and tables of the following sizes.\u00a0If your figure\/table is not exactly the same size as an entry in the table, please \u2019round up\u2019 to the next matching size. For example, if you have a figure that spans 1 column but is only 3\/8 of a page high, then you should use the word count 250 (i.e. 1 column wide, 1\/2 page high).<\/p><p>Please note that figures and tables intended for positioning in the left-hand sidebar of the extended abstracts template do not count towards the word limit. Therefore, we ask that authors aim to submit their papers with a declared word count lower than or equal to the limit for the respective track. However, we will permit a difference of up to 10% words between the word count declared at submission and any word count calculations made during the review process. If authors exceed the word limit by more than this amount, the chairs of each track reserve the right to either: i) ask authors to reduce the size of their submission to below the word count upon acceptance or ii) reject the submission.<\/p><p>For Word users we recommend that the word count should be calculated by simply selecting all text in the document, other than the exceptions noted above, and consulting the inbuilt \u201cWord Count\u201d function.
