This initiative aims to broaden participation and expand the ACM IMX community to encompass a wide range of perspectives. The SIGMM Diversity and Inclusion grant for IMX will be used for:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Travel support for non-students who self-identify as marginalised and\/or underrepresented to attend ACM IMX&#8217;24<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>One of our goals for this IMX edition is to broaden the community by welcoming a more diverse pool of researchers. In particular, we want to support the participation of researchers who self-identify as marginalized and\/or underrepresented in the community (e.g., scholars who come from non-WEIRD \u2013 Western, Educated, Industrialized, Rich, Developed \u2013 societies) and who lack other funding opportunities to support their participation. This support is particularly targeting earlier-stage researchers (e.g., post-docs, researchers) and applicants with a need for financial support. Awards of up to \u20ac1,000 will be provided, with the exact value depending on the geographical areas (to maximise our reach), diversity (to improve inclusion), topics (to expand into new areas) and submissions to the special sessions\/workshops. <span lang=\"EN\">Award recipients need to <a href=\"https:\/\/imx.acm.org\/2024\/attending\/registration\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">pay the conference registration fee<\/a> \u2013 <em>this grant cannot be used to pay the registration fee.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Childcare and parental support during ACM IMX&#8217;24<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>We acknowledge that many of IMX attendees are parents who need extra support with their children in order to attend the conference. We value these participants and would like to provide them with financial assistance to subsidise a variety of child-care options to include a broader group of attendees and their families to IMX 2024. This grant provides a contributions for up to \u20ac250 per family. The grant should be used as a contribution to: travel costs for children, and travel costs for a companion who provides the childcare and on-site or babysitting during the conference arranged by the parent. <span lang=\"EN\">Award recipients need to <a href=\"https:\/\/imx.acm.org\/2024\/attending\/registration\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">pay the conference registration fee<\/a> \u2013 <em>this grant cannot be used to pay the registration fee.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Disability and carer support to attend ACM IMX&#8217;24<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>With this grant we support attendees who were unable to gain funding to attend the conference due to being on an extended period of leave from work for reasons including parental leave, disability or other circumstances. Our aim is to continue on the IMX&#8217;s inclusivity culture by providing awarded participants with free registration for the conference and contribution to support other costs such as a contribution to their travel and accommodation, the attendance of a partner or carer or other expenses incurred in connection with a disability. In addition to covering the conference registration fee, each recipient of the award will receive up to \u20ac500 for their travel expenses.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-1cbede3b elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"1cbede3b\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Successful applicants who are granted the award must register for the conference* if they have not already done so**. The award will be used exclusively to reimburse travel expenses or to provide the support outlined in the grant. Reimbursements will be processed directly by ACM after the recipient&#8217;s attendance at the conference. lease note: It is required that the awarded applicants attend the conference in person and sign an attendance form at the IMX registration desk. If the form is not signed as proof of attendance, ACM SIGMM will not transfer the award to your account.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The application is open to all community members who meet the eligibility criteria and wish to attend the conference in person in Stockholm but require additional financial support to do so.<\/p>\n<p>* The award cannot cover conference registration due to ACM&#8217;s legal restrictions.<\/p>\n<p>** If the award recipient has not yet registered for the conference, they will be required to do so.
