CELEBRATING DIVERSITY<\/strong><\/h2><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/section>

This year TVX \/ IMX is commiting to maintain (and celebrate) diversity as part of a set of continuing core values. We have a long standing tradition of supporting a varied set of interesting research areas from both academia and industry spanning across researchers, engineers, software developers, designers, project managers etc. We would like to extend this diversity to support, advocate and celebrate gender, ethnicity and geographic location.\u00a0<\/p>

As part of our commitment to reinforcing the importance of boosting diversity within the TVX \/ IMX community, this year we have introduced diversity chairs<\/a><\/strong>, as part of the organising committee, who monitor continuously and participate fully in all aspects of the organisation and decision making activities of the conference \u2013 from the start to the end.\u00a0<\/p>

Previously, in 2016 and 2017, TVX \/ IMX held well attended forums focusing on\u00a0Asia<\/a><\/strong>. This was followed up, in 2018, by the hugely successful instantiation of TVX \/ IMX in Seoul, Korea. In TVX \/ IMX 2020 (Barcelona), we are delighted to announce a special focused\u00a0workshop<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0looking at \u2018Latin America\u2019 as a region of interest. This has been made possible due to the generous support the diversity chairs, working with the general chairs and colleagues in Latin America, successfully secured from the\u00a0SIGCHI Development Fund<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>

In addition, we have a number of initiatives to encourage and support diverse and inclusive participation \u2013 including travel+accommodation grants for students, diversity and inclusion support for those on parental, disability and related forms of leave. This will be made possible through the generous support of\u00a0SIGMM<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0(under review).\u00a0 Please\u00a0email us<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>with any queries or comments.\u00a0<\/p>

Diversity and Inclusion Panel<\/strong><\/p>

This year we are planning to host a Diversity and Inclusion panel during the conference with noted participants to highlight the issues and raise awareness in the community. We are especially sensitive to the needs of underrepresented groups and would welcome your thoughts on how we can help make TVX \/ IMX more inclusive. Even better,\u00a0email<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>us with suggestions that you think might make our conference more remarkable.\u00a0<\/p>

Mentoring<\/strong><\/p>

This year we are proud to continue TVX \/ IMX\u2019s Mentoring Programme and open application process for programme committee membership. Additionally, at TVX \/ IMX 2020 we have an active reasonable adjustment policy since we want to fully ensure that no-one is prevented from attending our conference, and equally so that people can be sure that the conference will present an accessible experience for them before they register to attend.<\/p>

Our process for individual reasonable adjustments is simple. Please\u00a0email<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0us with a request not considered in this website and this will be treated with the strictest confidence.\u00a0<\/p>

Supporting Inclusion<\/strong><\/p>

As the organizers of TVX \/ IMX 2020, we are committed to providing an inclusive, safe, and respectful conference environment for all attendees. As an ACM conference, TVX \/ IMX and its organizers, speakers, and attendees are bound by and the\u00a0ACM Policy Against Discrimination and Harassment<\/a><\/strong>, and we the organizers fully endorse this policy. The policy\u2019s scope includes the conference venue and related social media.<\/p>

TVX \/ IMX has made efforts over the last several years to be an inclusive community, and we have sought to continue and expand those efforts in our planning of TVX \/ IMX 2020.
