This page provides guidance on how to use these templates. Further details on this can be found in the final section of this page.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>New SIGCHI Proceedings Format (All technical Papers, including WiP)<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>Long and Short Papers<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">as, well as WiP papers,<\/span> should be submitted using the new SIGCHI Proceedings Format. Templates are provided to author papers in this format for both Microsoft Word and LaTeX (inc. Overleaf):<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>LaTeX \u2014 Download the ACM\u2019s <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.acm.org\/binaries\/content\/assets\/publications\/consolidated-tex-template\/acmart-master.zip\">LaTeX (&gt;=v1.7) Zip file<\/a><\/strong>, and use the sample-sigchi.tex and samplebody-conf.tex files.<\/li>\n<li>LaTeX (with Overleaf)\u00a0\u2014\u00a0For online collaborative writing, authors can create an Overleaf project using this\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.overleaf.com\/latex\/templates\/acm-conference-proceedings-new-master-template\/pnrfvrrdbfwt\">template<\/a><\/strong>. The template supports multiple ACM SIG conferences and isn\u2019t configured for SIGCHI out of the box. To configure the format correctly for IMX \/ TVX, simply comment out the line \u201c\\documentclass[sigconf]{acmart}\u201d and uncomment \u201c\\documentclass[sigchi, review]{acmart}\u201d.<\/li>\n<li>Microsoft Word\u00a0\u2014 Download the latest\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/tvx.acm.org\/2019\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/Submission-Template.docx\">ACM Enhanced Word Template<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0and use the \u201cSubmission Template.docx\u201d to prepare your paper for submission. The new Word template is a single-column format. The ACM has made this change so that Word authors can concentrate on the content and not on the layout of their submissions. ACM will take care of transforming your document into a properly formatted two-column PDF file during the production process after acceptance. The production process also creates an accessible, responsive HTML file as part of the Digital Library output. ACM has instructed us that you will be able to review the PDF and HTML output and provide corrections (if necessary) before you mark the output as accepted for publication.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>The new ACM TAPS process for publication makes PDFs and HTML5 responsive documents.\u00a0 These documents can be dynamic even. To ensure that the content limit for submissions is fairly applied across both sets of authors, we have unified the program into a single track for papers rather than a word count limit. Details can be found in the call for <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/tvx.acm.org\/2020\/long-and-short-papers\/\">Long and Short Papers<\/a><\/strong>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Remember that<strong> Work-in-Progress<\/strong> papers must not be longer than 3000 words. To ensure that the content limit for submissions is fairly applied across both sets of authors, we have chosen to apply a<strong> word count limit<\/strong> rather than a page count limit to submissions using this template. Details for the specific word count can be found in the calls for <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/imx.acm.org\/2020\/participation-2\/workshop-proposals\/\">Workshop Proposals<\/a><\/strong>. Information about how word counts should be calculated are provided at the end of this page.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>IMX-in-Industry Format<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>IMX-in-Industry submissions should be submitted using the following PowerPoint template:<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/imx.acm.org\/2020\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/IMX_INDUSTRY_Template.pptx\">IMX-in-Industry PowerPoint Format (.ppt<\/a><\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/imx.acm.org\/2020\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/IMX_INDUSTRY_Template.pptx\">)<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>Please see the\u00a0<strong>IMX-in-Industry<\/strong> page for guidance about what to include in your submission.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<section>\n<div>\n<h2><strong>Word Limits for New SIGCHI Extended Abstracts Submissions<\/strong><\/h2>\n<\/div>\n<\/section>\n<section>\n<div>\n<p>For workshops proposals, authors will be asked to provide a word count when making their submission. When calculating the word count for you submission, you should include all text within the document except for the following:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The ACM copyright block (found only in the LaTeX template)<\/li>\n<li>The contents of the section \u201cACM Reference Format\u201d (found only in the LaTeX template)<\/li>\n<li>Text included in tables, figures and their captions<\/li>\n<li>The reference list<\/li>\n<li>Authors Info<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>As tables and figures, and their captions, take up space in your paper they will count towards the word count according to their approximate size (including caption). Depending on the size of the figure or tables, you should add the number of words to your total word count stated in the\u00a0following tables. <b>Please include the number of words you have added to the word count per figure or table, by adding the number in [square brackets] the caption (initial submission only).<\/b><\/p>\n<h3>ACM SIGCHI Extended Abstracts (Workshop Proposals)<\/h3>\n<\/div>\n<\/section>\n<p>Each page in the New SIGCHI Extended Abstracts template can hold around 500 words. Based on this assumption, we have calculated \u2018word counts\u2019 for figures and tables of the following sizes.\u00a0If your figure\/table is not exactly the same size as an entry in the table, please \u2019round up\u2019 to the next matching size. For example, if you have a figure that spans 1 column but is only 3\/8 of a page high, then you should use the word count 250 (i.e. 1 column wide, 1\/2 page high).<\/p>\n<p>Please note that figures and tables intended for positioning in the left-hand sidebar of the extended abstracts template do not count towards the word limit. Therefore, we ask that authors aim to submit their papers with a declared word count lower than or equal to the limit for the respective track. However, we will permit a difference of up to 10% words between the word count declared at submission and any word count calculations made during the review process. If authors exceed the word limit by more than this amount, the chairs of each track reserve the right to either: i) ask authors to reduce the size of their submission to below the word count upon acceptance or ii) reject the submission.<\/p>\n<p>For Word users we recommend that the word count should be calculated by simply selecting all text in the document, other than the exceptions noted above, and consulting the inbuilt \u201cWord Count\u201d function.
